silver mountains
green land blue water
lights in the sky
memories awake

father homeland
what have you done
hunger despair
you swallowed the sun

for a handful of change
and a chunk of bread
i cut through the rope
that had held me

a ship carried me
over a barbarous sea
far from home

an old man waved us goodbye
with a bunch of hope
